The year has started off with a splash with our annual Swimming Carnival being held on the Tuesday of week three. I would like to thank all teachers, parents, students and friends for their help and cooperation in making the day such a success. Particular thanks needs to go to our new House Captains for the Leadership and organisation that they displayed. We had great participation throughout the day and it was great to see the level of athleticism improving each year. I am waiting for the arrival of our engraved age champion medallions before I am able to announce any results. These will be presented at a special sports assembly along with the announcement of Champion House from the event.
I would also like to congratulate all primary students who qualified for and competed at Zone Swimming in Coffs Harbour this week. It is very encouraging to see the training and hard work that our young athletes are putting in bearing fruit as they improve in their ability each year. Thanks is also needed for Mr Anderson and Mr Shipway, who took the squad through on Monday as well as the parents who were able to attend.
Week three also saw the beginning of our Touch Football program in High School. For the next four weeks we have the pleasure of hosting the regional development officer, Anthony Donovan and his offsider Merv. They will be running a vigorous training and development program as we prepare for the upcoming Zone Touch Football Gala in Ballina on Tuesday 13th March. Notes will be out for this event next week.

P & F Annual General Meeting

Bunnings BBQ – Saturday 3 March 2018
The first of our Bunnings BBQs will be held on Saturday 3 March 2018. We are currently looking for volunteers to help on the day. There are two shifts 8.15am-12.15pm and 12 noon - 4 pm. We need four people for each shift. There will also be a cake stall on the day, so if you can provide some baking, please let us know. Each item will need to be securely wrapped in plastic, labelled with ingredients and date of bake/prep and delivered to Bunnings from 9am on the day. If you can’t deliver to Bunnings on the day alternative arrangements can be made. So, if you are interested in helping us on the day with the BBQ or baking, please contact Ruth Zylstra on 0422 282 255.
Just a reminder that school banking now takes place Friday weekly during term time. Children with banking should drop their books into the canteen before school on a Friday. The books are being processed over the weekend by the School Co-ordinator and returned to the school on Monday afternoon for collection at the office. If your child is in Prep or K/1, bank books should be given to Mrs Harris or Miss White who will send the books up to the canteen with the Friday lunch orders.
New rewards for 2018 have just been released and if your child makes 15 deposits before the end of term 3, they go into the draw to win a family holiday to Hawaii. Information about this promotion is included on the attached flyer.
If your child does not currently have a school banking account, school information banking packs for parents will be sent home with children in prep and K/1 during the next week and for other years information packs will be available from the front office.
If you have any questions concerning the packs or anything about the school banking program, please contact Debbie Simpson, School Banking Co-ordinator on 0411 795 792.
