The year has started at St. Andrew’s with an influx of new students eager to be part of our school. A special welcome to them and to their families.
Year 7/8 Camp
Our school has established an Outdoor Education Camp at Brooms Head. The purpose of the camp is to foster teamwork and to teach group skills to our Year 7 and Year 8 students. During the camp, students will be completing curriculum based work as part of our teaching program.
The students will be travelling by our school bus. The students will be preparing meals with food supplied by the school. It is very important that the Indemnity Forms, Medical and Food Form and Permission Slip are filled out and returned to the school.
The girls camp will commence on Monday 5th February with the boys commencing on Wednesday 7th February.
On Tuesday 13th February we will be holding our Annual Swimming Carnival at the Grafton Olympic Pool. It promises to be a great day of competition as all students from St. Andrew’s Christian School take to the water in a variety of events.
Here are a few things your child needs to bring on the day: towel, sunscreen, water bottle, hat, goggles for chlorine protection, swimmers (girls please wear a one piece. If you don’t have a one piece make sure you wear a rash shirt over your two piece for protection from the sun. Boys need to wear board shorts or speedos may be worn)
Lunch – there will be a BBQ and canteen running on the day. Bring some money for this or pack your own in a cooler bag.
In addition to this, all students are encouraged to wear the colours of the house that they will be competing in for the day. The pool staff have asked for no face/body paint, balloons, hairspray or string to be brought to the carnival. The house colours are as follows: MARSH-RED, STEVENS-BLUE, THORN-GREEN.
Parents – if you would like to be a part of the races on the day, please bring your swimmers. There will be a staff and parents vs students race at the end of the day.
If it is possible to take your child directly to the pool and pick them up in the afternoon (2:30 p.m.) at the pool, this would be most appreciated.
Please note – the first event begins at 9.15 a.m. Roll call will be from 8:50 a.m. at the pool. Students should find their roll teacher on arrival.
Cost – All payments for the swimming carnival are to be made to the school.
If you are taking your child to the pool and picking them up at the pool at the conclusion of the day (2:30 p.m.) the cost is $3.00 If your child requires transport to the pool from school and transportation back to school at the conclusion of the day the cost is $5.00.
