St Andrew's Christian School

KNOWLEDGE THROUGH CHRIST

Our senior students have just completed their 2017 Duke of Edinburgh Excursion on the Clarence River.  The safely travelled by kayak from Lilydale to Copmanhurst.  We appreciate our staff Mr James Kidd and Mrs Briony Fenton for their leadership of this group.

Our school held a fundraising dinner on Saturday evening at the Grafton Presbyterian Church Hall.  The purpose of the dinner was to raise funds for the Mama Sayang Orphanage in Indonesia.  Our mission team will be travelling to Indonesia in July.

1/2 yearly exams commence for our Years 9 and 10 elective subjects this week.  Exams in their core subjects commence next week.

On Monday and Tuesday of this week our Year 12 students are in Armidale attending the H.S.C. Booster Days at the University of New England.

Most students in the 3/4 and 5/6 class will be singing in the Primary choice at the Grafton Eisteddfod tomorrow.  The remaining students will also be attending to support their fellow students and listen to other schools performing.

They will be leaving school tomorrow morning at 8.50 a.m. and travelling by bus to South Grafton High School Auditorium and planning to return to school around 12.30 p.m.

Students are to wear full formal school uniform.

On Thursday our Year 11 Visual Arts students will be going to Tweed Regional Gallery in Murwillumbah for a Student Enrichment Day “Focus on Portraiture”.  Award winning artist and educator Danelle Bergstrom has created portraits of some celebrated Australian identities and artists, including a memorable triptych of Margaret Olley.  She will share her working processes with students and lead a skills workshop as part of this one-day intensive focused on portraiture.

They will be completing this excursion in one day and plan to leave McDonald’s at 6.45 a.m. and return to McDonald’s at 6.00 p.m. – 6.30 p.m.

The teacher accompanying the students will be Mrs Cathy Irons.

Students will need to wear full formal school uniform and bring their own morning tea.  Lunch will be provided.  Students will need to bring extra money if they wish to buy from the Gallery or purchase a meal on the way home.

Congratulations to Amity Stevenson on her gaining 2nd place in the Christian Schools State Cross Country Championships last Friday.  Joshua Rowe our School Captain, gained 8th position in his age group.  Congratulations to both of these top athletes.
